About Us

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of the first departments established at SUSTech. Many other departments in the university can find their roots in EEE. EEE leverages its regional advantages of Shenzhen, the “Silicon Valley of China”, follows industrial development trend, and has extended its research areas across a variety of fields of electronic information science and technology as well as new interdisciplinary fields such as energy, environment and biology.

 

EEE has set up a faculty team consisting of internationally respected teaching staff. All faculty members either hold doctorate degrees from leading international universities or professional trained at the world’s top 100 universities after obtaining doctorate degrees. A significant number of faculty members hold distinguished scholarship, professorship, and fellowship from the government and international societies.

 

EEE has advanced scientific research facilities including Shenzhen Key Laboratory (third-generation semiconductor devices), government founded Engineering Center (electromagnetic non-invasive medical detection engineering), Nanshan Key Laboratory (industry-study-research cooperation in radio frequency and microwave communication). In recent two years, the department has obtained over 50 approved scientific research projects totaling nearly RMB 50 million (7.6 US dollars), including two multimillion-dollar Peacock team projects (ultra-wide frequency spectrum and ultra-strong THz wave). The faculty members have published over 450 high-quality papers, making significant contribution to IEEE 1906.1 standard and winning the first prize in technological invention award conferred by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

 

EEE currently offers four undergraduate programs, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, Optoelectronic Information Science, Information Engineering and Communication Engineering. The department also offers joint postgraduates programs with leading Chinese and international universities, including Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Hong Kong, University of Singapore, University of Birmingham, and University of Queensland.

 

EEE graduates’ career paths include postgraduate studies at international leading universities (many obtained full financial support), employment by high-tech companies such as Huawei and startup entrepreneurships supported by EEE maker garage and by the government of Shenzhen.
