Communication Engineering is a key and basic subject branch in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and it is also one of the most active research field in information science. The main research of telecommunication engineering is on signal generation, transmission, exchange and processing. The theories and applications of the research promote the development on computer communication, digital communication, satellite communication, optical telecommunication, cellular communication, personal communication, stratospheric communication, multimedia communication, internet and etc. Communication engineering has great prospect in information and communication technology field. In recent years, the rapid development in mobile communication, optical communication and internet has brought unprecedented convenience to people in transmitting and obtaining information. The great prospect in telecommunication is leading the development of the fast development of social economy so there are huge demands on the graduate students who majored in this area.
Photonics is an interdiscipline of optics, optoelectronics and microelectronics. It studies optical generation, emitting, transmission, detection as well as photon convert, processing, storage and display. Photonics is becoming the technical engine in promoting the development in economic areas and it also has great influence on our daily life. Photonics in our school emphasis on “display” and “illumination”. The research including new generation flat panel display, efficient solid-state lighting, photovoltaic, photonic integrated circuit, optical design, semi conduct photon devices, etc. The major aims at provide the students with both sound knowledge of photonics and practical skills. The students will learn advanced display, illumination, photovoltaic and optical fiber communication technology in school. After graduation, the students can choose the further study in photonics or in related areas.
Microelectronics, physics, electronics, material science, computer engineering, IC, Micro-Nano processing and other fields are closely related. They are the foundation of 21st electronic and information technology and play the pivotal role in modern technology and high-end economic development. The core areas of microelectronics in our school including semi-conduct physics, electrical functional materials, solid state device, VLSI design, microelectromechanical system and semiconductor manufacturing technology. The major aims at provide the students with solid knowledge and practical skills. The students will learn the design and fabrication skills on advanced electron, optical electronic devices and systems. The graduate students will have proficient English and computer capability, and will be able to work in multidisciplinary research areas. Our graduate students can work in electronics, optical electronic device, IC and system design and fabrication and some other areas.
Information Engineering is built on VLSIC and modern computer technology. It researches on information processing theory, technology and engineering implementation. Information system and applied technology on the control system are the core research. Information technology plays a vital role in the process of information society in the 21st century.
