Kai WANG--Associate Professor

Prof. WANG Kai is the associate professor in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Southern University of Science and Technology of China. His main research interests are semi conduct nanocrystal materials (quantum dots / rods and perovskite nanocrystals) and new optoelectronic devices (light emitting diode and photoelectronic detector). According to SCI database, he published over 50 papers and his publications have been cited over 2000 times with an H-Index of 22. He published one book written in English and held 10 patents. Prof. Wang won “The Second Prize of National Technological Innovation Awards” and “The First Prize of Provincial Innovation Awards”. He also received research grants from Guangdong Science and Technology Special Plan for Top-Notch Young Scholars and Young Talent Awards of Science and Technology Innovation in Guangdong Province.

Research Introduction

Prof. WANG Kai’s main research interests are semi conduct nanocrystal materials (quantum dots / rods and perovskite nanocrystals) and new optoelectronic devices (light emitting diode and photoelectronic detector). He is the principal investigator for 7 national and provincial scientific projects which including National Natural Scientific Foundation, Guangdong Science and Technology Special Plan for Top-Notch Young Scholars, Young Talent Awards of Science and Technology Innovation in Guangdong Province, etc. He participated in 8 key and major programs like Key Program of National Key Research Plan, Key Program of National Natural Scientific Foundation, National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program). He published over 50 papers in international journals like Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Nano Energy, Optics Express, which 6 of them with impact factor above 10, 6 papers impact factor above 5, 3 articles selected as the covers. According to SCI database, his publication cited over 2000 times with an H-Index of 22. Over 40 of his conference proceedings were included in EI, which including 3 invited reports, 2 excellent papers and 1 best paper. Prof. Wang held ten patents and one of them is permitted in the United States. He published Freeform Optics for LED Packages and Applications as first author. He won the second prize for National Technology Invention Awards, and 2 first prizes for provincial scientific and innovation awards. He was selected as Guangdong Science and Technology Special Plan for Top-Notch Young Scholars in 2014 and Young Talent Awards of Science and Technology Innovation in Guangdong Province in 2017. He is the journal reviewer for ACS Photonics, Advanced Optical Materials, Nanoscale, Optics Express, Science China Press, Acta Optica Sinica, etc. He is the founding member of Society for Energy Photonics (SEP), member of IEEE International Photon Association Guangdong Branch, IEEE/OSA member, member of National Technical Committee Flat Panel Devices Standardization Committee, and director of Shenzhen Young Science and Technology Talents Association.

Luminescent nanocrystal including quantum dots (QDs), quantum rods (QRs), halide perovskites and related device on optoelectronics.

Luminescent nanocrystal optoelectrical devices including PeLED, QLED, QD-PD, etc.
